Virtio Virtual Platforms -
Virtio Virtual Platform: Virtio Virtual Platforms are software models of complete embedded systems used for software development. Virtual platforms are built using Virtio's virtual prototyping technology to create the high-performance software models of a complete development platform.

Virtio Platform Development Kits: The platform development kit is an upgrade to a virtual platform that offers all of the features of a virtual platform and adds the editing and compiling capabilities needed to create new models and add peripherals from the peripheral library.

Licensing Terminology -
Evaluation License: Initial term of evaluation is always 7-days and a user may extend the license an additional 7-days by going to Virtio's website and renewing the license. The license renewal is e-mailed to the user to confirm a correct e-mail address. Evaluation licenses are created automatically and renewed automatically. Evaluation licenses are always node-locked.

License-name: The license-name is a unique root platform identifier that identifies the source of a platform. The license-name is used to make it easy for the originator of a platform to release new versions to subscribed users without requiring any license changes.

Subscriptions -
Virtio Virtual Platform Subscription This subscription gives an end user license to a virtual platform. Any updates to that virtual platform during the term of the subscription are included. The virtual platform subscription is based on it's unique license-name. Support for the virtual platform is offered on a per incident basis. Virtio offers support packages for virtual platform subscribers.

Virtio Platform Development Kit Subscription This subscription provided an end user license to a platform development kit including the starting platform and peripheral library. Any updates to the platform and peripheral libraries during the term of the subscription are included. Upon generation of a Platform Development Kit License a new unique license-name is assigned that allows the licensee to send evaluation copies of derivative platforms to others who can then buy a Virtio Virtual Platform Subscription and be able to run all versions of the derivative platforms created for the term of their subscription. Platform Development Kit customers can choose to provide support to customers using their platforms or have Virtio provide support to the customer.
